Sherwood is a city of 32,731 people (2020) in Pulaski County, the 13th most populous city in Arkansas and part of the Little Rock metro. It was incorporated as a town on April 22, 1948.

Gravel Ridge and the 2023 tornado

Sherwood grew in steps, from a town in 1948 to a first-class city by 1971. In 2008 voters approved annexing Gravel Ridge, a community of about 3,200 people to the north. On March 31, 2023, a damaging tornado touched down in Little Rock and tracked through Sherwood. Many families had to move out while homes were repaired, and some moved more than once.
