Moving in Little Rock's Summer Heat
Summer is moving season in Little Rock. Schools are out, leases turn over and the days are long. It's also when afternoons regularly reach the 90s °F with high humidity, which affects your crew, your belongings and your schedule.
Request a moverStart early
Ask for the first slot of the day. Loading in the cool morning hours is faster, and the hottest part of the day is spent driving.
Book ahead
June, July and August weekends fill first. If your dates are flexible, a midweek move is easier to book and sometimes cheaper.
Keep the house cool
Leave the air conditioning running at both homes during the move. With doors opening constantly, it won't keep the house cold, but it helps.
Water and shade
Have water and a shaded spot ready for the crew. Heat-related illness is a real risk when lifting all day.
Heat-sensitive items
Candles, vinyl records, photos, medicine, aerosols and electronics don't do well in a hot truck. Move them in your air-conditioned car.
Wood and humidity
Wood furniture can swell in humid air and dry out in air conditioning. Unload it into a cooled house the same day where you can.
Plants and pets
Plants wilt and pets overheat quickly in a closed vehicle. Plan their trip separately.
Afternoon storms
Summer thunderstorms can pop up quickly. Keep plastic wrap and towels handy for mattresses and upholstery.
